The will of institutions and entrepreneurs to revive Ferrara basketball has been confirmed

An evening of celebration and basketball on Thursday 4 May at the Sagra Scottadito al Barco, organized by Despar 4 Torri. In the presence of the Ferrara fans and part of the municipal council, as well as the Granata athletes, the FeNice Foundation and the municipal administration relaunched their firm will for a restart of Ferrara basketball at a high level.
“I thank the deputy mayor, the FeNice Foundation, the first 4 Torri team and the historic Ultima Legion, and all the fans present here”, patron Luigi Moretti did the honors. “It is a particular year: it is seventy-five years of 4 Torri, one hundred years since the birth of Caneparo, and thirty
presidency for me. And I want to remember a friend who passed away a few days ago: Giuliano Mezzadri.
The 4 Torri is a historical club, this year the C with the young players has faced many difficulties: but we will also need a relegation to gain experience, they are all good guys and good players, we will definitely make up for it”.
The protagonist of the evening is the FeNice Foundation, which is working to relaunch the Ferrara segmented ball: “The Foundation with Riccardo Maiarelli, Stefano Calderoni and Paolo Piazzi, present here, has shown unity of purpose, with healthy entrepreneurs from Ferrara: work is needed, but I’m confident”, continues the president of granata. “We won’t go too far, but I hope that basketball starts again from a B of Excellence. I will give all my effort to ensure that the project can take off”.
Guest of the evening the deputy mayor Nicola Lodi: “La 4 Torri is a beautiful family and a reality that is difficult to find. President Moretti has been putting his heart and soul into it, every day for thirty years. I thank him and the FeNice Foundation for this act of courage and responsibility, I am sure you will bring basketball to the top, because you love sport”.
Also present was the Councilor for the Environment Alessandro Balboni: “Congratulations to all of the 4 Torri, Barco is lucky to have this event. Sport pays attention to social issues, even in a complicated neighbourhood, which I hope has appreciated the interventions we are carrying out on the environmental front. It’s a pleasure to be here, good luck in the new adventure”.
Councilor Andrea Maggi could not miss an evening dedicated to sport: “I have known the 4 Torri since I frequented the Cini house, it is in my heart. Basketball has had many problems, but it wants to be reborn. The municipal administration has the will to contribute to this rebirth concretely,
we are working to fix the sports hall, and in a month we will host the Serie B final, with Ferrara at the center of national basketball attention: it is an opportunity to be seized to make people understand that we want to restart with basketball. We will soon also invest in the 4 Torri gym: our city needs basketball”.
The representatives of the Foundation conclude, starting with Riccardo Maiarelli: “We could not help but help basketball in Ferrara, it will be complicated but there will be all the necessary effort: stay close and help us reach our goal, all together we will make it”.
Stefano Calderoni concludes: “We want to start again, because first of all we are fans, and we couldn’t accept that forty years of Ferrara basketball ended up in the bin in one night. We are open to serious people who want to lend a hand, and there will be a sort of popular shareholding: the fans will be the first shareholders, because those who experience basketball are true witnesses to the values ​​of the sport. We have managed to involve the youth clubs, without dividing ourselves, and they all want to give young people a future, making sport a great social experience”. And he concludes with a “Come on frara alè” to the applause of the
present.​
