Excitement seizes the young hearts of 55 Paraguayan athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they pack their bags for a great ecumenical event.

On Sunday, June 11, the members of the Paraguayan delegation that will represent us at the Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023 will take flight to the Old Continent. The red-and-white team is made up of 55 athletes who will compete in various disciplines in the international contest that will bring together to more than 7,000 athletes of all nationalities between June 17 and 25, in Germany. It will be a great opportunity to raise awareness about the inclusion in society of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The athletes will be joined by 16 coaches and members of Olimpiadas Especiales Paraguay EP, making a total of 79 people. In the 2023 Berlin Games, 26 summer sports will take place, but there will be ten disciplines with Paraguayan participation: swimming, speed skating, badminton, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, 3X3 basketball, tennis, bocce, futsal, athletics and field hockey , the latter as an exhibition sport.

Athletes train daily in the National Gymnastics Pavilion, the SND Arena, the courts of the Paraguayan Tennis Association, the athletics track and the Federative Warehouses. Likewise, the National Aquatic Center and the Paraguayan Olympic Park receive in their facilities the selected ones who finalize the technical and tactical details to compete in Berlin in the best way.
