The ‘Viera Arena’ of the future. A state-of-the-art Gran Canaria Stadium for 2030 that lights up at night like the new San Mamés or the Wanda Metropolitano. Antonio Morales, president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and who is running for re-election with NC, has published various photographs of the new expansion and improvement project of the Siete Palmas site this morning on his social network account. It expands the capacity to more than 40,000 seats and would be one of the venues for the 2030 World Cup, in which the Spain-Portugal-Morocco candidacy is the great favourite. The Island has yet to make the cut to host matches in the World Cup, which is held in seven years. The sports complex was inaugurated in 2003 and twenty years later, it is still not finished.
