SPORTS / Until May 20, the 35-year-old Briançon Badminton Club is organizing the 19th edition of the national tournament “La Plume des Neiges”

The Briançonnais and badminton, a love story that has continued for almost 20 years. 19 years to be precise because this is the number of years that the national tournament “La Plume des Neiges” has existed under the leadership of the Briançon Badminton Club. 19 years old always during the weekend of the Ascension which therefore welcomes until Saturday 254 participants from 50 different clubs including two from the Alpes de Haute-Provence and seven from the Hautes-Alpes.

On the program: three days of competition in two neighboring gymnasiums in the Garçins district for ten level categories ranging from National 3 to Promotion 12 with singles this Thursday, doubles this Friday and mixed doubles this Sunday. At the origin of this sporting event, we find the president of BBC 05 Lionel Cornaz accompanied by around thirty volunteers who are betting on an eco-responsible, friendly tournament but above all deeply rooted in the territory of Briançonnais.
A tournament rooted in diversity like badminton
Recognized by the French Badminton Federation from the very beginning, the Plume des Neiges also gives pride of place to youth by letting the youngest, minimal, cadets and juniors participate with the adults this year. Ditto for the mix which is one of the strong characteristics of this discipline, accounting for approximately 60% of men and 40% of women. A pride for Lionel Cornaz who describes his tournament as a mixture of age and gender.
