“When we found out, each with its own problems, even serious ones due to the ongoing flood, I must say that the desolation and discouragement multiplied: the baseball field in Via Rivalona in Godo was flooded! The shots taken with the drone have crudely and inexorably documented the tragic reality of things. The regret prompted us to want to share it with the baseball world through social media. It was truly an incredible surprise to see us overwhelmed, within a few hours, with affectionate messages of solidarity, encouragement, sharing our pain and concrete donation initiatives. This, in addition to having excited and moved us, has greatly encouraged and pushed us to send dozens and dozens of thanks through all the social channels from which we had received these certificates and to channel the numerous initiatives that offered us contributions and donations in a crowdfunding initiative with a resounding success within a few hours, with contributions coming in particular from the world of baseball and beyond, from all over Italy and also from abroad.

Our spirit has changed, we felt prompted to get busy as soon as it was possible to access, to empty, clean and tidy up the outside of the field and all the premises, which has seen our managers, athletes and technicians busy before , then many volunteers among our fans and supporters, but also from other realities and locations, including Ravenna and neighboring towns. I don’t make lists so as not to forget anyone. All these friends worked tirelessly all weekend and yesterday. Obviously there were also moments of discouragement in seeing so many things that had become useless, only to be piled up in front of the entrance so that they could be taken away, but, in the end, seeing most of the areas in which one had worked, cleaned up and returned to their use it was and is a great satisfaction.

Obviously there is still a lot to do, there is the need to check and restore the playing field and above all the facilities, but we will only be able to do this following the checks that the Municipality of Russi, owner of the stadium, will have to carry out with the technicians and specialists and let’s hope we don’t have to pay too high a price. In the meantime, FIBS has greatly facilitated the possibility of participating in the second phase of the baseball championship, which continues, with various very important measures in our favor and we sincerely thank our Federation. Even for training, impossible to carry out in Godo, we had the spontaneous and generous offer of its field by Ravenna baseball which we thank from the bottom of our hearts.

At this point I think it is absolutely necessary, but we also do it with great pleasure, to thank all those who, in some way, have and are helping us either with messages, or with donations or with their work or by providing us with playgrounds and material and they are many, we will be forever grateful to them and above all we want to give them the utmost satisfaction and due recognition by multiplying the commitment and strength and determination with which we have always faced and managed this sport in our reality and at a national level.
