Summary of Major League Baseball games, Sunday, May 21, 2023

CINCINNATI — Harrison Bader hit a two-run homer and the New York Yankees completed a sweep in Cincinnati on Sunday, this time beating the Reds 4-1.

Bader made it 2-1 with his fourth homer of the season, in fifth. The long ball came after a walk awarded to Willie Calhoun.

Gleyber Torres homered in the sixth and Anthony Vole an opportune double in the seventh, pushing home Greg Allen.

Substitute runner after a walk given to Jake Bauers, Allen stole a base before slipping to third on a poor pitch from Hunter Greene (0-4).

Greene struck out 10 batters but allowed four runs and four hits in seven innings.

Luis Severino gave up one run and four hits in four and two-thirds innings. He struck out five batters.

He was making his first start of the year, after suffering a side muscle strain.

Albert Abreu (2-1), Jimmy Cordero and Wandy Peralta have not allowed a hit over three and a third innings.

Clay Holmes then allowed two singles and a walk, before picking up a fifth save.

Aaron Judge had a day off, after a streak of seven homers in eight games. He averaged .452 during that span, producing 16 points.

Undefeated for four games, the Yankees will host the Baltimore Orioles for three games starting Tuesday.

The Reds have lost six of their last seven meetings.

They fell to last place in their section.
