Adrián Fernández to Miss Monaco Historic Grand Prix Due to Mechanical Issues

Mexico City.- Adrián Fernández will not compete in the Monaco Historic Grand Prix race due to a mechanical problem in his car.

During the qualifying session on the Principality’s street layout, the Mexican driver had already secured sixth place on the starting grid for tomorrow’s race, with a time of 1’38″221.

However, BRM #P153/05 was unstable due to a gearbox problem that forced the team to end its participation in the “Jackie Stewart” category D.

This car was chosen to pay tribute to the former Formula One driver. The tricolor competed in 8 events in the 1970 season aboard the BRM, registering a second place in the United States.

Michael Lyons took pole position by setting the best lap of 1’34.006, with the Surtees TS9, Katsuaki Kubota, from the Lotus 72, will start second and Matthew Wrigley, from March 721 G, completed the Top 3.
