Russia’s largest sports TV channel has stopped broadcasting Latvian national team matches for an absurd reason

The fact that “Arena Riga” is allowed to hang Ukrainian flags is cited as a justification for such a decision.

Behind one of the gates hangs a Ukrainian flag with the inscription: “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!”

“The reason [šādam lēmumam] – the yellow and blue rag in the match against Canada,” says the statement of “Match TV”.

The Latvian national team has three more games remaining in the group tournament of this championship – against Slovenia, Kazakhstan and Switzerland.

The World Championship will take place in Riga until May 25, while the semi-finals, bronze match and final will take place on May 27 and 28 in Tampere, respectively.
