Rowing – Zeidler wins EM bronze – Sport

Oliver Zeidler, 26, missed the long-awaited gold medal at the European Rowing Championships. In the final of the continental title fights on Sunday in Bled, the one-time world champion from Munich, who was considered the favourite, had to settle for third place. After leading halfway through, Dutchman Leonard van Lierop and Olympic champion Stefanos Ntouskos (Greece) passed Zeidler. In the semifinals the day before, he was still in front. His third place gave the German Association (DRV) the only medal in the 14 Olympic competition classes.
