This season, in which he already won the Orleans Masters (France) in April, the main objective is the World Cup in Copenhagen (Denmark) in August, an appointment in which he will try to fight again for the maximum, although before the different competitions of the world circuit are those that occupy its sporting development.

Q: What balance do you make so far this season?

A: So far it would give a positive balance of the season in terms of sensations. Since December I have not had that pain that I had in my knee, I can withstand the training loads perfectly and that allows me to accumulate good training sessions and compete well.

Q: What roadmap do you handle immediately?

A: At the end of May I have tournaments in Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia and a week later the European Games. Then, at the end of August, the World Cup, which I still don’t think about. I have many competitions before and until July arrives we will not start with the more detailed preparation.

Q: In little more than a year are the Paris Games, do you have them in mind or is there still time?

A: There is little left for the Paris Games but since I have so many tournaments on the world circuit, which is what I am focusing on, I don’t think about it much. Now I want to accumulate good training, compete at the highest level and climb the world ranking to be there.

Q: What percentage of your best would you say you are at?

A: Right now I would say that I am at eighty percent of my best level, but that is very relative because then the competition comes and it doesn’t go well.

Q: How is it that badminton is associated almost exclusively with your figure?

A: I always demand more dissemination of badminton. It is true that it is difficult for there to be another Carolina Marín but I would like there to be more Spaniards at the top. It is difficult for a girl like me to come out of Huelva, practicing an unknown sport, but I hope that in the future it can emerge.

Q: Do you feel pressure to be the reference of Spanish badminton?

A: I feel very proud to have been able to put badminton on everyone’s lips. When people recognize me, they know what I do and for me it is the greatest pride. On top of that I have encouraged them to play it. Now I walk through parks and people greet me, something that was unthinkable years ago for a badminton player.

Q: In some Asian countries you are a star.

A: It is exciting what I am living in my own country, because before I had lived abroad in Asian countries. I am highly recognized as in Asian countries badminton is like a national sport.

Q: As an ambassador for Banco Santander, you were able to enjoy the atmosphere experienced in the Women’s Race in Madrid a few days ago with 32,000 participants. What did she feel?

A: I feel emotion when I see so many women doing sports united by the same thing. I was there two years ago, but seeing so many women doing sports again excites me. I felt like it was an endless race.

Q: Is women’s sport at its best?

A: In my opinion it is difficult to say that we are at the best moment in women’s sport because either we have had better moments or we are going to have them. What is certain is that now the figure of women in the media is valued more. Before, they didn’t talk so much. Now even women’s soccer exists on television.
