New club already confirmed: Antonio Jonjic leaves Erzgebirge Aue | Sports

Personal bang in Aue: Antonio Jonjic (23) will leave the third division at the end of the season! The striker is moving to Wehen Wiesbaden.

Jonjic signed a contract with Hessen until 2026. Aue sports director Matthias Heidrich (45): “It’s a shame that we can no longer rely on Antonio in the future. As a young player, he has developed really well here with us since October 2020. We thank ‘Toni’ for his time here in Aue and wish him all the best for the future.”

Antonio Jonjic: “I really missed my environment”

Jonjic came to Aue from Kaiserslautern in 2020. In 53 games, the attacker scored 11 goals. This season lit Jonjic after the winter break, when the FCE shot its way out of the table cellar with a winning streak. Most recently, the professional was absent due to a foot injury.

Jonjic about his time in Aue: “It was very good and important for my development. But I’m drawn back towards home because I’m a family man and I really missed this environment. I wish the FCE and its great fans all the best!”

Whether there will be a reunion between Aue and Jonjic in the coming season is still open. Wehen Wiesbaden fights in the 3. Liga about the ascent. FC Erzgebirge has secured relegation.

This must not happen… Biggest relegation in world football is imminent!

The Hessians are looking forward to the newcomer. Wiesbaden sports director Paul Fernie: “Antonio is a passionate and robust striker who, with his goal instinct, poses a constant threat to opposing teams. We are very pleased that we were able to convince an ambitious and viable player to go our way despite other offers.”

Jonjic is already excited about his new job with the Hessians: “Paul Fernie and Markus Kauczinski quickly convinced me of a change in the discussions with their plans and ideas. I would like to contribute to the sporting success of the SVWW with many goals. It doesn’t matter in which league.”
