Mikal Bridges exculpa a Monty Williams

In recent weeks we have experienced a cascade of coach dismissals within teams aspiring to the ring. They have fallen Mike Budenholzer in Milwaukee Bucks, Doc Rivers in Philadelphia 76ers and Monty Williams in Phoenix Suns. Each one has had their journey and their circumstances, but they all have in common that they have achieved a large number of victories along the way.

Focusing on the organization of Arizona, in this it has been surprising the fact that Monty Williams was dispensed with when they were immersed in a project that has just started, since Kevin Durant arrived at the transfer deadline and was barely able to play in regular season for an injury. This didn’t stop Monty from being dropped, a decision former Suns player Mikal Bridges doesn’t share.

«The forward, who was transferred to the Brooklyn Nets just to get Durant, believes that the team’s problem was not the coach in any case and that he will soon find a job in another franchise. Monty’s not the problem, but he’ll be great somewhere else. The truth is that the Suns have to make important decisions in the near future. Assuming Devin Booker and Kevin Durant will be the staples of the 2023-24 roster, he still has to decide whether to guarantee Chris Paul’s contract and trade DeAndre Ayton. They are the first steps of a project that for the coming year will have no other objective than to get the ring.
