Mercuès: “Vignes et Châteaux” celebrates its twentieth edition on Thursday

An unmissable event on the calendar of foot races in the Lot, “Vignes et Châteaux” celebrates its twentieth edition this year. Organized on Ascension Thursday, May 18, in the magnificent setting of Château Les Bouysses in Mercuès, the 2023 edition will offer, like its predecessors, a wide choice of events with a thousand competitors, who each year come participate in the party. “It’s a family event, confirms the president of Vignes et Châteaux, Bénédicte Lanes. People come with their families to practice physical activity and have a good time”. Two races (20 km and 10 km), starting at 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively, are on the program for this event, the organizers of which pay particular attention to the course layout. “We favor dirt roads, undergrowth, and vineyards. It’s a cross-country course”, confirms Bénédicte Lanes.

An 11 km hike (departure at 8:30 a.m.) is also on the menu for this 20th edition with the presence, along the route, of two tastings at Domaine Le Doméni in Caillac and Domaine Clos de Pougette in Douelle. The youngest, of course, have not been forgotten. A children’s race (departure at 10:05 a.m.) is organized from 10:05 a.m. and multiple activities will be offered on the Château Les Bouysses site. Cahors Athlétisme will offer an athletics workshop; Cap Nature will supervise bubbly games and tree climbing; the Compagnie d’Arc de Cahors will host an archery workshop; finally the association “Vignes et Chateaux” will offer an angling workshop and a grimages workshop

The award ceremony will take place from 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by an aperitif hosted by the “La Pieuvre” band. At 12:30 p.m.: meal in the salons of Château Les Bouysses (by reservation only, registration deadline Tuesday, May 16). To celebrate this 20th edition, a great evening is planned from 7 p.m. with an aperitif dinner hosted by the La Pieuvre band.
