It happened in Indian Wells 2022 and was almost certainly the service point with one of the slowest speeds ever.

On occasion, we share some moves that certain players perform to baffle their opponent. One of them is the “serve from below”. As has been said on other occasions, this blow is usually criticized… although it is not anti-regulatory.

However, what happened in the 2022 edition of Indian Wells (and the ATP Instagram account rescued) is much less usual. In fact, an ace executed at just 40 kilometers per hour is a shot rarely seen in professional tennis.

And that is what the American Maxime Cressy did against his compatriot Christopher Eubanks: the player measures 2.01 meters and owns a powerful serve. But this time, he surprised Eubanks by executing him in an unorthodox manner.

Cressy (at that time 72nd in the world) hit the ball with the head of his racket, which caused the ball to travel in a very strange way: it passed the net very slowly, and then took a spin that made her come back. Incredible.

The winner of the 2022 Newport tournament seemed not to want to execute such a shot and, laughing, rehearsed an apology. The spectators could not understand what they had seen either and burst out laughing. Eubanks? He ran but it was impossible for him to reach the ball, and he stayed next to the net as if asking for explanations.

In any case, and although the aforementioned play went well for him, the one who ended up smiling at the end of the game was his rival: the score was 57, 76 (8) and 64 in favor of Eubanks.
