Lok Leipzig: The cup final is now threatened with cancellation Sports

Another fuss about the Saxon Cup final!

On June 3rd (4:15 p.m.) 1. FC Lok Leipzig play against Chemnitzer FC for the trophy – as part of the final day of the amateurs on ARD. But now the Saxony spectacle is threatened with cancellation.

Background: Autonomen and Antifa have announced a demo on social media for June 3rd, which will be mobilized nationwide. The left scene wants to react to the verdicts against Lina E. and three other suspected left-wing extremists who are accused of violent attacks on suspected neo-Nazis.

The police are on a large scale, especially since other major events are taking place with the town festival and Grönemeyer concert – and are asking for the cancellation and postponement of the cup final, for which over 8000 tickets have already been sold.

However, the association is still reluctant to do so. SFV boss Hermann Winkler (60): “As part of the final day of the amateurs, this is a game with a lot of prestige for the clubs and the association, which also involves a lot of money.”

The decision was forwarded to the Saxon Ministry of the Interior. This, in turn, recommended the city of Leipzig to cancel according to BILD information. A final decision should be made at the next security consultation on May 30th.

Lok Leipzig Managing Director Martin Mieth: “We have done everything on our part to ensure that this game can take place. Everything else is now out of our hands.”

If it is canceled, it is more than questionable when the last game of the season will be made up for. Especially since many FC Lok pros have already planned a short trip to Mallorca for the following week.
