The former Latvian hockey player Raitis Ivanāns revealed in a conversation on Latvian Radio’s “Piespēle” program that he is trying to keep up with the world hockey championship, and also looked back a little on his time in the Latvian national team.

“I follow it every year [pasaules čempionātam], as well as for all interviews,” admitted Ivanāns. “I follow, read and watch too.” Ivanans currently lives in the United States, where he explained that his friends don’t follow WC very much. “Those who know, they also follow. An ordinary person, I think, does not even know that such a PC is happening at all.”

“The WC in Canada was the only one in which I played for the national team. Good memories, it was interesting. At least it’s good that I was able to play in one championship. I know what it means to be in the locker room and to be with for dudes,” Ivanan said.

Ivanāns played his only WC in 2008, when he did not score points in six games, but earned 31 penalty minutes and a negative efficiency coefficient of -5.
