ITF Feld am See: ÖTV women sell themselves dearly at the home game in Carinthia – ÖTV

While Julia Grabher, Sinja Kraus and Tamira Paszek were in action at even higher quality events and Barbara Haas made her comeback in the IMMOunited Bundesliga presented by win2day after a long injury break, Austria’s second guard is presenting itself this week at the ITF W25 home tournament in Feld at sea. And that very neatly, even if the last red-white-red representatives were eliminated in the round of sixteen at the second stop of the Carinthian Ladies Lake’s Trophy on Wednesday.

With Mavie Österreicher (WTA 1177), who had eliminated the top seeded Swiss Leonie Küng (WTA 564), Veronika Bokor (WTA 1254), who had defeated the third-ranked Romanian Stefania Bojica (WTA 694), and Daniela Glanzer (WTA -). quite surprisingly three ÖTV ladies mastered the qualification. Two of this trio then followed on from these performances in the main competition: Austrians even took number three out of the seed list with the Czech Michaela Bayerlova (WTA 318) with 4:6, 6:3, 6:3, while Glanzer in the Austrians – Duel with wildcard holder Alina Michalitsch (WTA 1151) with 2: 6, 6: 4, 6: 2. In addition, Tamara Kostic (WTA 1087), who won her first international women’s title at the weekend at the ITF W15 event in Vierumäki (Finland) at the age of 17 and received a special exemption for it, was third in the group with a 6:4, 6:0 against the Czech qualifier Linda Sevcikova (WTA 936) the round of 16. For Bokor and the wildcard players Elena Karner (WTA 1269) and Arabella Koller (WTA 921), who even held a set lead against the Belgian Sofia Costoulas (WTA 326), who was positioned on four, ended in the first main round.

Glanzer and Kostic just missed further surprises

After Tuesday fell through completely due to the rain, the second main round was also played on the same day. It was the end of the line for the local trio, but mostly again after good performances. While there wasn’t much to gain for the Austrians in the 3:6, 0:6 against the French Tessa Andrianjafitrimo (WTA 413), Kostic lost just 6:3 to the eighth-ranked Karner conqueror Justina Mikulskyte (WTA 366) from Lithuania. 4: 6, 2: 6 and shiner of the two-listed American Elvina Kalieva (WTA 243) despite a 2-0 lead in the third set only wafer-thin with 2: 6, 6: 3, 5: 7. Incidentally, this fate was shared with the former world number 35. Polona Hercog: The Slovenian made her comeback in Feld am See as a prominent participant after a forced break of almost a year and at the same time prepared for the French Open in Paris, but the world-class player also lost out in the round of 16 with the good starting field.

Red-white-red is therefore only represented in doubles on Ascension Day this Thursday. Here Stefanie Auer with Michalitsch after a wo-success and Kostic with the German Mara Guth after a bye are now making their first appearances in the quarter-finals.

Here are all the results of the ITF W25 tournament in Feld am See.
