Ruud van Nistelrooij blamed the incessant riots at Ajax – PSV (1-1, 2-3 after penalties) for the most part on the media. That is definitely not included at the table Inside today, where René van der Gijp in particular draws fiercely. “It is such great nonsense that he is proclaiming that I wonder: would Van Nistelrooij be in his right mind?”, said the former right winger.

Afterwards there was a lot of criticism about the behavior of the players of Ajax and PSV in the final for the TOTO KNVB Cup. Van Nistelrooij did not look in the mirror, but pointed an accusing finger at the media. “He said: ‘The main culprit of the first half getting out of hand is the media’,” Van der Gijp quotes. “The media would be much too black and white and put too much pressure on such a match. Then you are crazy, aren’t you, if you say that?”

“We are a great country for starting trainers or starting players,” said Van der Gijp. “Whether it’s John Heitinga or Ruud van Nistelrooij… We really are a great country to learn the trade. After that match I hear that Van Nistelrooij… That’s all nonsense. That’s not a bad thing, because that’s allowed here. We don’t say anything about it: let’s talk, let’s talk!”

Van der Gijp involves Johan Derksen in the conversation. “But Johan, did you read something about that cup final on Monday? Or on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday? Then go to England, where the media write for weeks… No, the media!” Derksen fully agrees with his table companion. “That’s so stupid it doesn’t even bother me.”

Derksen is also not too strict with the PSV trainer. “I am a fan of Van Nistelrooij. I think he is a nice boy, but he does not yet come across well in the publicity. It is gibberish. What he has done wrong is that Joey Veerman keeps leaving the team, or change him, which the guy hates. And he is now faced with the facts. He must not forget that Veerman is one of his best players. That boy has fought back well.”
