“I have no right to rest”

Nick Kyrgios has shared the very sad news: his grandmother has passed away. In 2016, Kyrgios’ grandfather lost his battle with cancer. The death of Kyrgios’ grandfather was very badly experienced by the Australian tennis star.

In Greek, the word “Yiayia” means grandmother. “Looks like I’m not getting any rest right now. RIP Yiayia, the best we could have hoped for. Go enjoy your time with Papou now“, captioned Kyrgios on his Instagram post.

Kyrgios receives support from his girlfriend, fans and friends.

Soon after Kyrgios announced his grandmother’s death, he started receiving messages of support from all over.

Thank you for all this love. I’m not going to lie to you, it’s very hard right now. His energy seems omnipresent“, captioned Kyrgios on his Instagram Story. As Kyrgios mourns the loss of a loved one, Australian tennis legend Pat Cash has spoken in extremely glowing terms of his compatriot.

Cash, the 1987 Wimbledon champion, praised Kyrgios for improving his concentration and reaching his first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon 2022. He also hopes Kyrgios will achieve other notable Grand Slam results.

I said this many years ago, I said if Nick could improve his mental capacity to be able to focus in matches just 5% or 3% a year, then he would be a Grand Slam contender.

And that’s exactly what he did. He did very well in that regard. He is aware that he will never be perfect and that he will sometimes explode and lose his temper. I’m definitely someone who’s done that, but not to the point of disrespect.

Sure, I yelled at my coach out of frustration at one point, but if you ask Marcus how many times I did that, he could count on the same hand. But there wouldn’t be a set without him (Nick Kyrgios) doing it a handful of times.”I’ve done it a handful of times in my entire career.

I think John certainly pushed the envelope more than he should have, more than he should have been allowed. I have no doubt about it. He got away with it.

As for Nick, he plays the role of the victim very well, like “everyone is against me, nobody likes me”. It is not at all true. It’s just in his head,” Cash said on the “Control the Uncontrollables” podcast.

Our entire team sends its sincere condolences to the Kyrgios family.
