Hoffenheim is also on Düsseldorf’s Kownacki

If TSG holds the class, they probably have a good chance of getting the contract for the Düsseldorf striker.

Is in the focus of TSG Hoffenheim: David Kownacki

The two most recent defeats, which abruptly ended Hoffenheim’s intermediate sprint, have not only thrown the Kraichgau back significantly in the race to stay up in the league. Efforts to plan the squad for the coming season are also faltering due to the vague table situation. The recent 1-0 defeat in Leipzig is less responsible for this than the 3-1 loss against 1. FC Köln. This hoped-for threesome as a continuation of the ten-point series from four games should have been the decisive step towards relegation. And the TSG should also bring the commitment of potential reinforcements much closer. But in view of the escalation of the situation, possible additions are of course reluctant to sign as long as the league membership of the Kraichgauer has not been clarified.

One of these candidates is called David Kownacki. The striker of the second division team Fortuna Düsseldorf fits exactly into Hoffenheim’s prey scheme in terms of sport and economy. Because the center forward is in the best footballing age without having yet reached the performance peak, and the Pole is also available for free in the summer. That’s why other clubs have long since expressed their interest. Union Berlin is just as well known as an applicant as Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Despite well-known competitors, Hoffenheim seems to have good cards

Since Kownacki now wants to make the safe step into the first class, only Berlin has been an option so far. The lack of commitment there speaks against Union as a destination. And of course Gladbach and Bremen are much closer to staying up than Hoffenheim. Nevertheless, TSG seems to have good cards. That may also have something to do with the very promising sporting perspective, because the chances of regular appearances at TSG would be high.

Neither Munas Dabbur (30) nor Andrej Kramaric (31) recently met expectations, both also embody the type of the disguised nine and prefer to move deeper between the lines. Christoph Baumgartner (23), whom coach Pellegrino Matarazzo recently placed in the front line, sees himself more as an eighth or tenth and is aiming for the next career step in the summer anyway. Ihlas Bebou (28) remains a risk candidate due to his knee problem and also lacks the desired accuracy. Jacob Bruun Larsen (24) was already considered a candidate for sale in the winter, and striker Kasper Dolberg will soon be gone again.

In addition, former Hoffenheim and Düsseldorf official Lutz Pfannenstiel could also play a role in Kownacki’s sympathy for TSG. As Düsseldorf’s sports director, Hoffenheim’s former scout lured the attacker from Sampdoria Genoa to Fortuna four years ago. The current sports director of the MLS club St. Louis Kownacki may have warmly recommended his heart club. However, the 26-year-old would have to postpone his decision for a longer period of time. Because Hoffenheim is still a long way away from staying up in the league.
