The Bora-Hansgrohe rider won a three-way sprint to win his first stage on a Grand Tour. Geraint Thomas remains in pink.
German Nico Denz (Bora-Hansgrohe) won the 12th stage of the Giro on Thursday by winning in a masterfully led three-man sprint. With his two escape companions Tom Skujin (Trek-Segafredo) et Sebastian Berwick (Israel – Premier Tech), the German had taken off 30km from Rivoli, coming out of a large group of breakaways who had left 50 terminals earlier. The peloton arrived 8 minutes later.
In general, nothing changes. The pink jersey is still in the possession of the Briton Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers). Despite the rain, no fall shook the peloton of favourites, just for once.
After Pascal Ackermann (UAE-Team Emirates) On Wednesday, Germany won a second win in a row at this Giro.
