Four players leave Union

Union Berlin confirmed the departure of four players before the last Bundesliga matchday against Werder Bremen (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.). The expiring contracts of left-back Nico Gießelmann (31), winger Tim Maciejewski (22), midfielder Levin Öztunali (27) and central defender Timo Baumgartl (27) will not be extended.

It is not yet known where the former trio will go. After two years on loan at the Alte Försterei, Baumgartl will initially return to PSV Eindhoven. VfB Stuttgart and clubs from Serie A are said to be interested in a transfer. According to ‘Sky’, Baumgartl, who would like to stay in the Bundesliga, is available for 1.5 million euros.
