FC Bayern admits mistakes internally

In view of the changeable results that the new head coach Thomas Tuchel achieved with FC Bayern in the final spurt of the season, the question arises again and again: Was Munich’s decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann the right one? The Bayern bosses are apparently in agreement internally, but are now still admitting mistakes.

The release of Julian Nagelsmann from FC Bayern shortly after the defeat against Bayer Leverkusen was the right decision according to the Bayern bosses, reports the “kicker”. However: The Munich decision-makers are now coming to the realization that the change of coach to Thomas Tuchel came too late.

Accordingly, in retrospect, Nagelsmann should have parted much earlier, it is said. After all, the “misdevelopment” of the German record champions’ team was not only apparent in March, i.e. at the time of the dismissal, but had started many months before.

FC Bayern lack the earlier self-image

It is now obvious that the current Bayern team is a long way from the otherwise successful style of play. There is a lack of calm, control and footballing elements. The former self-image of FC Bayern is no longer there.

Despite the precarious results in the Bundesliga, in the DFB Cup and in the Champions League, no criticism is made of the new head coach Thomas Tuchel. According to the “kicker”, Tuchel is still considered the ideal solution for the coaching position by those responsible at FC Bayern.

Julian Nagelsmann’s advisor, Volker Struth, recently emphasized in the “Bild” podcast how surprised he and his client had been about Bayern Munich’s decision to change coaches. “Julian didn’t know anything either and said along the lines of: Do you want to kid me,” Struth said. After all, FC Bayern was still represented in all three competitions at that time.
