Mexican Archer Alejandra Valencia Competes in Archery World Cup in China

Sonoran archer Alejandra Valencia was very close to getting on the podium in the first stage of the 2024 Archery World Cup, after finishing in fourth position in Mixed Teams.

In the competition held in Shanghai, China, the Olympic medalist, alongside Matías Grande, sought the bronze medal, but the Aztec duo fell to the Indian duo (Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevera) by a score of 6- 0.

The Mexican couple, after finishing with the seventh best score (1,352), went bye the first round, to later string victories against Chinese Taipei and Iran (both duels were won 5-4), however, in the semifinals they were dominated by Spain (5-3), a defeat that sent them to compete for bronze against India.

In actions of the Individual Olympic Round, Valencia Trujillo, after finishing in 24th place in the eliminatory (657 points), faced her teammate Ángela Ruiz, who beat her in the first phase with a score of 6-4.

While, in the Women’s Team competition – where Mexico placed eleventh with 1,948 points -, the Sonoran, along with Ángela Ruiz and Ana Paula Vázquez, beat India 5-3 in the round of 16, although then, in the quarterfinals, they lost to Germany (5-4).

In the 2024 edition of the Archery World Cup there will be three dates, taking into account that after Shanghai, China, Incheon, South Korea (May 21-26) will follow, to close in Antalya, Turkey (18- June 23)
