Farewell to “Edú” Pagella • Diario Democracia • News from Argentina, Buenos Aires, Junín

This weekend Roberto Edú Pagella left us, rather, he went on a trip to throw the orange through the air in other places.

He was one of the best players of the golden age of basketball in Junín, born in the 9 de Julio club’s youth system at a time of players of inexhaustible quality.

It was also a time when the courts were open and, if it rained, he was one of the first to go to dry it and condition the metal chairs so that the fans could enjoy the basketball games.

He went to play for River Plate until an Achilles tendon injury sidelined him from the pitch.

Then he went to Vélez Sarsfield where he was a partner of none other than Spurio, Pellejero and Luifa Scola’s father.

And then the Boca de Pellandini, Fornier, Perazzo and the Juninense Carlos Gandolfo wanted it.

Guillermo Edgardo Vecchio later convinced him to go to Concordia and there he led Estudiantes to the National “A” League.

Mentor of great campaigns with the Juninense team, “Edú” reaped a legion of friends in his time in this land. And we will miss him very much. It’s not goodbye… but see you forever.
