F1, Charles Leclerc: “Tyre management is always a problem. Wrong strategy? It’s easy after that”

The curse continues. Charles Leclerc ended in sixth position his Grand Prix in Monaco, seventh round of the 2023 F1 World Championship. The Monegasque, in the home round, once again finds himself off the podium. A response that cannot satisfy him, mainly the result of what happened yesterday during qualifying. Leclerc, in fact, had finished in third position, but due to a communication problem with the garage, he made up for it three-place grid penalty for impeding Lando Norris (McLaren).

A sanction that, in fact, he did fade the ambitions of the boy from the Principalityconsidering the characteristics of the Montecarlo track. a GP, to say, conditioned by the arrival of the rain and in the event Ferrari didn’t seem so ready to understand the evolution of the situation, paying more attention to reading the data than to what was happening on the track.

The trend that the tires have excessive degradation in the race has been confirmed. I thought that here in Monaco the critical issue would not arise, also because I had managed the compounds. However, at one point, I was in big trouble and all I could do was pit“, Leclerc explained to the microphones of Sky Sport.

On the strategy the Monegasque added: “We were aware that it was going to rain, but we couldn’t know how and how much. We have chosen to return as far as I have explained. In hindsight it’s easy to say that it could have been done differently, but when we were there on the track we couldn’t have known in advance how it would have gone“.
