PSG goalkeeper Rico seriously injured in riding accident

Dhe reserve goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Rico, has been seriously injured in a horse-riding accident in southern Spain. The French soccer champion said he found out about the accident on Sunday and is in constant contact with Rico’s relatives.

Taken to the hospital in Seville by helicopter

French and Spanish media reported the 29-year-old Spaniard was injured while horseback riding on the edge of Doñana National Park in his native Andalusia. There was no official information on the severity of Rico’s injury. French media, citing a PSG spokesman, reported that Rico was in serious condition. The news service SID wrote of a craniocerebral trauma.

As reported by local television station Canal Sur, Rico was taken to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville by helicopter. Life-saving measures were taken there. According to a report by Marca newspaper, the 29-year-old is now stable.

On Saturday Rico was on the bench in the away game against Racing Strasbourg (1:1). With the draw, PSG had made the championship title perfect. Rico’s ex-club FC Sevilla wished the goalkeeper “a lot of strength and a speedy recovery” via Twitter.
