excellent results for the Judo Sakura athletes of Arma di Taggia at the San Marino European Championship – Sanremonews.it

The European Martial Arts Games, the European Multidisciplinary Martial Arts Championship organized by WMAC (World Martial Arts Committee), was held on 6 and 7 May 2023, in the splendid setting of the Republic of San Marino, an event attended by more than 900 entered in the two days of competition.

The athletes of the Sakura Arma di Taggia Judo Club, belonging to the Italian Federation, competed in the ‘Self Defence’ specialty, bringing a sequence of techniques based on the principles of Judo, Ju-Jitsu and the ‘Global Self Defense Method’ which was much appreciated in this competition where realism, speed, technique and precision all compete together for the success of a good result. As already last year in Slovenia, the athletes of the Judo Club Sakura, accompanied by the Masters Andrea Molinari and Manuela Ferrigno, were able to best express their skills acquired thanks to a hard preparation and were classified in the following positions:
– Maya Welcome: 1st place and gold medal in the Under 18 women’s category, up to brown belt
– Vincenzo Zavaglia: 1st place and gold medal in the adult male category +45, up to brown belt
– Eros Trombetti: 2nd place and silver medal in the adult male category +45, up to brown belt
– Elisa Antellini: 3rd place and bronze medal in the female +18 category, up to brown belt
– Luana Florio: 3rd place and bronze medal in the women’s category +45, single category up to black belt
– Noemi Benvenuto: 3rd place and bronze medal in the women’s category +18, up to brown belt
– Daniele Brignole: 3rd place and bronze medal in the men’s category +18, up to brown belt
– Saverio Taurini: 3rd place and bronze medal in the men’s category +45, up to brown belt.

Also excellent performances by Kristian Zavaglia, Roberto Crepaldi and Chiara Bazzani, who missed the podium by a few points and still finished in fifth place in very strong categories. Diego Secchi, who attended the non-competing event but generously cooperated with his teammates, was awarded an award for ‘Fair play’.

The Sakura Judo Club technicians Andrea Molinari and Manuela Ferrigno were awarded the commemorative belt of the event for their excellent performances in the championship.
