Successful start in Sardinia for the successful double Erler/Miedler.

In a balanced first set, the four-time ATP title holders could not use the only break chance, but secured the passage in the tie-break with 7: 5. In the second act, the Davis Cup doubles managed an early break and transported this to a 7: 6, 6: 4 success after 81 minutes.

Individual qualification failed

Previously, Erler was still in action in the qualifying final of the singles. After yesterday’s win against Aleksandr Nedovyesov from Kazakhstan, the Tyrolean was beaten by the Italian Alessandro Giannessi 5:7, 1:6. Like his doubles partner, Miedler had also slipped into the qualification field in singles as an alternate. There the Lower Austrian lost 2:6, 1:6 to the Colombian Nicolas Barrientos yesterday.

Oswald fights his way through

Philipp Oswald was also victorious at the start with his partner Robin Haase at the Challenger in Aix en Provence, France, which is also classified in category 175. After 1:49 hours of play, the Austrian/Dutch duo narrowly triumphed over Pel/Cornea 7:5, 4:6, 13:11.
