€49.6 million in overall funding, up 12%

Record prize money for Roland-Garros. The French Tennis Federation (FFT) formalized, Friday, May 12, the endowment for the 2023 edition of the Porte d’Auteuil tournament. It amounts to 49.6 million euros, an increase of 12.3% compared to 2022 (43.6 million euros). Since 2007, the bonuses have been the same for male and female players. At the top, the two singles winners will receive a total of 2.3 million euros, their defeated opponent receiving 1.15 million.

The increase should allow “to ensure a better distribution of winnings between players”explained the FFT. “The organization of the tournament notably wanted to significantly increase the prize money for the first rounds of the singles draw and continue to increase the amount allocated to the qualifying events as well as those of wheelchair tennis and quad”justified the instance in its press release.

Strong progress in qualifying and in the first laps

For the singles tournament, the greatest increases are to be found in the first three rounds: +11% for the first round (from 62,000 to 69,000 euros), +11% for the second round (from 86,000 to 97,000 euros), +13% for the third round (from 125,800 to 142,000 euros). The overall prize money recorded an increase of 9.1%, and reached 2.3 million euros for the winners.

The organization also announced that it will continue its efforts for players who go through the qualifications. The losers will receive between 16,000 and 34,000 euros, i.e. an average increase of 11.8% compared to 2022. % compared to the previous edition.
