“I’ve known him for many, many years, at the end of my career he was his teammate in the amateurs. I immediately noticed that Aleks Borkovic and him were something special,” says Manuel Ortlechner about Dominik Fitz.
At the beginning of March 2016, 224 spectators witnessed the youngster’s first appearance in adult football. Amateur coach Andreas Ogris replaced the then 16-year-old in the Regionalliga Ost against Oberwart. Also on the field: Ortlechner.
Even then it was clear to everyone that this slight boy was a great promise for the future. That’s seven years ago. Fitz will be celebrating his 24th birthday shortly after the end of the current season.
