REGGIO EMILIA – Now it’s official. Claudio Coldebella is the new general manager of Pallacanestro Reggiana. This morning he signed a three-year contract with the president Veronia Bartoli. “I am very proud to become a part of Pallacanestro Reggiana – his first words – I welcome this call with great pleasure and enthusiasm, for which I thank the president Bartoli and her members, who from the first meeting made me feel the person chosen to set this new path together. I arrive in a club with a great history and tradition: coming to Reggio Emilia, as a player or as a manager, meant a place where you can breathe passion for basketball. The devotion of the public this season was the confirmation, and it was one of the reasons for my choice”.

The carreer
Born in 1968, a native of Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso), Coldebella has a long and titled career as a player behind him, which saw him wear, among others, the shirts of Virtus Bologna (with which he won three league titles, an Italian Cup, one Super Cup and one Cup Winners’ Cup), AEK Athens, Paok Thessaloniki and Olimpia Milano. Coldebella also represented the Italian national team 111 times, winning a silver medal at the 1997 European Championships and a gold medal at the 1993 Mediterranean Games.
After retiring, he first played the role of assistant coach at Olimpia Milano, before becoming Sporting Director of Juve Caserta in 2009. The following year he moved to Benetton Treviso, holding the role of General Manager and also becoming its vice-president in 2012. For three seasons, from 2013 to 2016, he was General Manager of the National Basketball League before signing, in May 2016, with the Varese basketball. He will remain until 2018, to then land in the Russian formation of Unics Kazan, where he will play the role of Sports Director, participating three times in the Eurocup and once in the Euroleague.
