Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund overtakes Bayern one day before the end of the championship

Borussia Dortmund have never been so close to ending Bayern Munich’s hegemony. For ten years, the Bavarians have monopolized the title of German champion. This Sunday, they are second, two points behind Borussia Dortmund before entering the final day of the Bundesliga. The day before, the FCB cracked against Leipzig (3-1), despite an encouraging first period.

Not always inspired at the moment to take advantage of the flaws of their rivals, the Yellow and Black did not hesitate to sneak into the opening this time. Dominant in the first period, the BVB made use of their numerical superiority after the break. Shortly before the hour mark, Sébastien Haller put his team on the path to success. The wagon did not stop: the Franco-Ivorian scored twice, before local legend Marco Reus slipped the ball from the third goal to Julian Brandt.

The coronation will be played next Saturday from 3:30 p.m. in Germany. Borussia will receive Mainz, ninth, while the Bavarians will move to Cologne, tenth. Thomas Tuchel’s team is in a very unfortunate position, while the Rekordmeister could still aim for a hat-trick when the ex-PSG coach inherited the keys to the team.

Eliminated by Manchester City in the Champions League, defeated by Freiburg in the German Cup, the Bavarian ogre had nevertheless dominated Borussia for Tuchel’s first on the bench at the Allianz Arena (4-2). Since April 1, the Munich have won only 4 of their 7 league games. For their part, the Dortmund supporters are enthusiastic. The Yellow Wall has been singing it for several weeks already: “Who is going to be German champion? BVB Borussia! »
