Basketball: Carmelo Anthony retires, “it’s time to say goodbye” – Basketball

A few days before his 39th birthday (next May 29), Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement from playing basketball. He did so with a video message posted on his social media: “My story has always been beyond basketball. The time has come for me to say goodbye.”

Anthony was one of the NBA icons of the 2000s, who despite never winning a title certainly marked the league forever. Between Denver, New York, Oklahoma City, Houston, Portland and finally the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony collected 10 All Star Games and the title of leading scorer of the 2012-13 season. Considered by many as one of the best forwards ever, he scored 28,289 points in 19 seasons.
