A despite the remarkable feat of the Boston Celtics to come back to tie the series 3-3 against the Miami Heat, NBA legend Charles Barkley took the opportunity to remind Jaylen Brown and to the rest of the team that their work is not yet complete.
The Celtics’ achievements thus far are noteworthy. It is not an easy task to recover from such a disadvantageous position and force a Game 7 decisive. Boston deserves credit for their efforts, but the ultimate determinant of success lies in securing the fourth win in the series.
During a conversation between Barkley and Brown on the show “Inside the NBA” after Boston’s Game 6 win, Barkley made this point to the Celtics All-Star.
“If you want to make history, you can only do it by winning Game 4,” Barkley told Brown.
“Don’t forget that. Just getting to Game 7 is not making history.”
Jaylen Brown acknowledged Barkley’s message and responded: “Exactly. I get it.”
It’s clear that Brown and the Celtics are prepared to handle their home court responsibilities as they strive to achieve something historic.
No team has returned successfully from a 3-0 deficit in the series to win a playoff series, but Boston really has a chance to become the first NBA team to do so.
