Moers As part of the judo gala at the Judo World Championships 2023 in Doha, Jörn Becker and Vahid Sarlak were awarded the gold medal of honor by the International Judo Federation for special services to the sport of judo!

Judo unites all nations into one big family and for us the judo values include more than just this sporting competition,” says Jörn Becker, sports physiotherapist of the international refugee team.
Jörn Becker, together with the national trainer Vahid Sarlak, will accompany the Refugees Team on their way to the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. Until the end of the week their athletes were still fighting for the medals and the crowning glory is today’s Sunday Team World Championship. The team consists of Iranian, Afghan and Syrian athletes who have joined together to form a national team to work together for peace and freedom in this world.
