Austria Vienna fails in the race for Europe

On the 30th match day of the Admiral Bundesliga, Austria Vienna failed in the race for the European Cup starting places. If you conceded a goal in injury time, Austria Klagenfurt couldn’t get past a 1-1 draw.

Both teams start the match cautiously. In view of the European Cup situation, neither team was willing to take the risk from the start. Haris Tabakovic had the best chance to score after 15 minutes, but the Austria striker was called off for offside (14′). On the other side, Marvin Martins saves in the last second from an oncoming Cvetko (26′).

In the second half of the game, too, offensive scenes are in short supply. Substitute Jaritz still has a huge opportunity to make it 1-0 (71′), Tabakovic in return missed Austria’s best chance a little later (73′) when a lob over Klagenfurt goalie Menzel failed.

Jukic’s goal is not enough for Austria

But then a goal. After an Austria counterattack, Braunöder uses Jukic, who overpowers Menzel in the near post (79′). During the development, a bump against a man from Klagenfurt could be seen, but after studying the TV pictures, referee Jäger decided against denying the goal.

But Klagenfurt remains courageous and rewards itself. Mahrer passed it on to Jaritz, who overcame Früchtl in injury time (90+3).
