Antonio Carbajal, the Mexican soccer player who has the record that Lionel Messi can break, has died

The mythical goalkeeper of the Aztec National Team, nicknamed La Tota, passed away this Tuesday at the age of 93.

This Tuesday, the world of soccer is in mourning because another legend of this sport died. Antonio Carbajal, former goalkeeper for the Mexican national team, achieved a historic record that will be remembered forever: He was the first footballer to play five World Cups. He was in Brazil 1950, Switzerland 1954, Sweden 1958, Chile 1962 and England 1966.

La Tota was 93 years old and He was in the hospital in Leóna city in the central state of Guanajuato, due to problems with your blood pressure. Now he rests in peace, along with other historical soccer players.

His career in sports

carbajal He made his soccer debut with Real España in 1948. In 1950 he signed for León, with whom he finished his professional career in 1966. Once he retired as a goalkeeper, he began his career as manager at León, a club in which he not only worked for years, but also chose it as the city to live for most of his life.

Precisely with León, La Tota won two leagues. In addition to the World Cups that he played in, in 1948, the year of his debut as a professional, he attended the London Olympics as a substitute goalkeeper.

A World Cup icon
