Anderlecht: the physical trainer of Mazzù leaves, that of the debauched RWDM

Anderlecht continues to modify its staff. Thibaut Meyer, the French physical trainer that Felice Mazzù had taken from the Union, will no longer be there next season. He will be replaced by Limburg’s Dries Bloemen, who was doing a good job at RWDM.

Thibaut Meyer with Riemer. Mazzú’s former physical trainer is not staying in Anderlecht.

Meyer was the last survivor of Mazzù’s staff. After Felice’s C4, Anderlecht also parted ways with goalkeeping coach Laurent Deraedt. Samba Diawara, he preferred to try an adventure like T2 in Reims, with the T1 Will Still. Frank Boeckx, the goalkeeping coach, retired for family reasons. And chances are Robin Veldman will leave too.

The Danish duo Fredberg – Riemer had agreed to give Meyer a chance. But obviously, they want to completely change the staff. The decision to replace Meyer with Bloemen was already taken two months ago. But as a correction to RWDM – the two clubs face each other this Saturday – Anderlecht intended to wait until the end of the championship in the Challenger Pro League before finalizing the transfer.

Bloemen made his debut as a physical trainer in youth teams at OHL and then in team 1 of Louvanistes. The RWDM transferred him last summer at the request of his coach Euvrard, with whom he had worked at OHL. Bloemen played an important role in the Brussels title race. He joins his friend Gauthier Vanderloock, also ex-OHL and currently video analyst in Anderlecht.

Bloemen has always dreamed of working for a big club. His task will not only be to prepare the players physically but also to avoid muscular injuries based on the data he has per player.
