After four years, Charlyn Corral savored a goal with the women’s Tricolor when she opened the scoring in the 5-2 win over the Chicago Red Stars of the NWSL, in the first duel of the Mextour carried out by the national representative in the United States.

The longing for a connection to their tricolor roots also served as a link for a large number of Mexicans to attend the SeatGeek Stadium in Illinois. Thus, in front of a large crowd, the team led by Pedro López has remained undefeated since his arrival on the bench at the beginning of this year.

With a couple of shots, one of which hit the post, Charlyn already announced his hunger to reach the goal. Although the rival was expected to be a difficult challenge, on the field he was deficient, especially in defense, and after a recklessness he opened the door for Mexico to take the lead on the scoreboard.

In an attempt to stop Corral, Penelope Hocking took a risk with a tackle and ended up committing a handball, which resulted in a penalty. With complete confidence, a symbol of his experience on the court, Charlyn (19) deceived the rival goalkeeper to send a shot to the left side and shake the net.

Euphoria resounded in the stands, while the Pachuca player celebrated her first goal with Tricolor with the squad since the 2019 Pan American Games, when there was a break with the team by questioning the decisions of the managers.

Already with the superiority reflected on the scoreboard, the Mexicans accelerated to increase the score three minutes later. Jacqueline Ovalle overflowed from the right side and when marked by the rival she sent a pass that was rescued in the crescent by Karla Nieto, who sentenced with a riflazo to celebrate his first goal with the tricolor shirt.

Ovalle was also the creator of the play that led to the third goal when she entered the area again from the right wing and just when it seemed that she would be stopped by the Americans, she surprised with an assist for María Sánchez (35), who finished off cross.

With the wide advantage, Mexico relaxed on the field and the Chicago squad scored two goals just before the break. With an Olympic goal, Julia Bianchi (40) was the first to close the gap, while Sarah Griffith scored the second for the locals at 45+1 after beating Kenti Robles to connect a header.

But the national representatives reacted in the complement and Diana Ordóñez scored the fourth with a left-footed shot at minute 64, while Carolina Jaramillo, who came on as a substitute, sealed the victory with a great goal when she reached the net with a Free kick shot from the crescent.

We are grateful for the hospitality of the public, we hope that this experience will help the fans to want to see us, we want to repeat today’s workSaid a satisfied Pedro López ahead of the next duel of the Mextour, that they will play on Tuesday against the Houston Dash.
