We know the finalists of the Polish Championships. It was a mess. A chance for historic success

The play-off matches of this year’s Tauron Liga brought the biggest surprise in years. We are talking about the elimination of the Chemik Police volleyball players, who in the last eight seasons only once failed to win the Polish championship. This year, the chance for the fourth title in a row was unexpectedly deprived of them by Budowlane Łódź. On Tuesday, we met the teams that will compete for the title of new national champions.

The players of Developres Rzeszów were the first to enter the finals. Stephan Antiga’s players faced Budowlane in the semi-finals. Already in the first match, they showed that in the absence of their biggest rivals, they are in the mood for the desired championship, winning 3:0 at home.

The rematch in Łódź also went their way. In the first set, the Rzeszów team won to 19, and in the second they gave their rivals no chances, defeating them to 12. The third set was definitely the most balanced, in which the home team showed a great will to fight. Most of the time result it oscillated around a draw, and in the decisive moments the players from Lodz showed nerves of steel. This led them to a 27:25 victory.

The fourth set was also very even, but this time the decisive moments belonged to the Polish runners-up. Developres won 3:1 (25:19, 25:12, 25:27, 25:23) and advanced to the fourth final of the Polish Championship in a row.

The receiving duo had the biggest impact on the final victory. Ann Kalandadze scored a total of 20 points and was the best scorer of the meeting. Jelena Blagojević, in turn, scored 18 points in the team’s account. The players of Developres can now focus on the fight for the coveted gold medal. In the last three finals, they had to recognize the superiority of rivals from Police.

ŁKS won the main round, now it will fight for the Polish championship

The second finalists emerged from the competition between KS and BKS Bielsko-Biała. The second team from Łódź turned out to be the best in the main round, suffering only one defeat. Alessandro Chiappini’s players had very high aspirations, which they confirmed in the first semi-final match, which they won 3:0.

The second clash also started with a strong accent by ŁKS. The players from Łódź quickly marked their superiority on the court in Bielsko-Biała and won the first set to 15. In the second set, the advantage of the visitors was also undisputed, which translated into a victory to 18. In the third installment, the role was reversed and the players from Bielsko took control of the match. The hosts kept their lead practically all the time and allowed to catch up only at the end. In the decisive moments, the players from Łódź performed better, winning 3:0 (25:15, 25:18, 27:25).

The winners were once again led by Valentina Diouf. The Italian attacker scored a total of 22 points. ŁKS volleyball players reached the finals after a four-year break. In 2019, the players from Łódź won the national championship, defeating their local rivals Budowlane in the final. The next three editions ended with bronze medals.

For Developres, it will be a fight for the first championship in history. ŁKS won only two Polish championships. For the last time in 2019.
