VIDEO: Red Devils fight in French top match, Openda heads Lens to 2nd place in Ligue 1 | League 1 Uber Eats 2022/2023

Marseille had spilled points against Montpellier on Friday evening and so Lens had the chance to move past l’OM to 2nd place in Ligue 1. Winning was necessary and that is never an easy task on the Rennes field.

Loïs Openda, who played a supporting role with the Red Devils last week, was again in the forefront in France. He gave his team the lead after half an hour with a nice header.

The reaction of the home team was impressive. Bourigeaud hit the crossbar and Toko Ekambi also flirted with the equalizer before the break.

In the 2nd half, the better chances were again for the visitors, but Fofana’s sights were not sharp. After a verbal altercation between Red Devils Openda and Theathe, it was Lens goalkeeper Samba who secured himself for his team with some excellent saves.

Lens and Marseille now both count 60 points, trailing PSG by 6 points. The leader will play the top match against Lyon for his own people on Sunday evening.
