Victory of the United States at the World Team Trophy, France 5th

The winter season ended this Saturday with the World Team Trophy, the unofficial World Team Championship, which took place over three days in Tokyo. Thanks to its homogeneity and the victories accumulated by its artistic couple and its dancers, the United States took the victory with 120 points.

They are followed by South Korea, which is ahead of Japan on the podium thanks to its individualities, in particular its two recent vice-world champions Lee Haein, who mates in the short and free programs the double world champion Kaori Sakamoto, and Cha Junhwan, who won the men’s freestyle.

Long at the foot of the podium, France finally slipped to 5th place, overtaken in the home straight by Italy. We will appreciate in passing that captain Kevin Aymoz excelled in the short program, obtaining for the first time in his career more than 100 points (100.58) for a 3rd place in this exercise (4th in the free). The European champion, Adam Siao Him Fa, attempted the quadruple lutz in these two variations, but fell each time, having to settle for 5th place in the court, 10th in the free.
