Valenciennes could be bought by an African billionaire

For several months, the VAFC (L2) has been on sale through the intermediary of the Parisian firm KPMG. President Eddy Zdziech, contested by a large part of the supporters, has declined several offers since the start of the season.

But according to a source close to the management of the club, the director of the sports project of a large industrial group in sub-Saharan Africa was present at the Hainaut stadium on Saturday evening during the defeat against Paris FC (4-5). This would be his second visit to Valenciennes, after the match against Dijon (2-2, February 25), to study the feasibility of a buyout of 100% of the shares.

Contacts really intensified last week between the Zdziech family and the African billionaire who made his fortune in the cement industry.

If the club remains in L2 (it has only two points ahead of the first relegation), the prospect of an agreement is possible. It would relieve a whole city, the VAFC being for several years in a very difficult financial situation, not to say desperate.
