Val Thorens will bring the ski season to a close

Val Thorens will formalize the closure of French ski areas on the weekend of May 6 to 8. Last to close, the highest station in Europe awaits many enthusiasts for the last descents…

Under normal spring conditions, a program festive and sporty will be to be discovered throughout the weekend in Val Thorens: DJ sets, musical entertainment, waterslide, raclette party, snowtubing… But the Big Last is especially the weekend that will make your thighs warm, with the “Big Der” race, a typical race 3 km derby.

The Big Der’ is a derby-type race with a start for 4 participants from the top of Péclet and an arrival at the foot of the Yannick Richard stadium: 3 km of descent for 675 m of unevenness. Race reserved for 18 years and over, ski helmet compulsory. Groups of 4 will be formed in order of bib.

Only 300 bibs are available, to book

  • Bib alone: 35€
    • Access to the race on Saturday
    • Gift and finisher medal
    • Meal + 1 drink on race day
    • Registration for the end of race lottery
    • On race day, make sure you have a ski pass with Carré Neige insurance (not included in the price of the bib – €3.10 for the day, on sale at the ESF)
  • Bib + ski pass: 79€
    • All the same, with a reduced price on the ski pass
  • In addition to a finisher gift, many prizes will be up for grabs for each podium (pros and amateurs). In total, there are €25,000 in prizes to be won.

The collection of bibs will be possible:

  • Friday May 5, 2023 at the Tourist Office from 2 p.m.
  • Saturday May 6, 2023 at the Tourist Office from 7:30 a.m.

Throughout the weekend many events and activities will be offered free of charge: waterslide, inflatable games, snowtubing (towed buoys), concerts, raclette Party, Salomon Ski test, fireworks… On Saturday morning, breakfast is offered to all participants. The bar is provided by the firefighters of the Vallée des Belleville, throughout the day and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. food trucks and a giant barbecue will be offered.
