“I consider the election of Jan Tůma to be a logical step. One of the members of the board of directors became president and he will be able to continue the divided work. We will allow a member of the board of directors to replace him at the May general meeting,” Martin Loukota, who is the director of APK LH and the director of the extra league, told ČTK and Radiožurnál , whose management was taken over by the association at the beginning of this year after 10 years back from the union.
Tom’s term of office will last until June next year, when the next regular election will be held. Vice President Prokop Beneš from Třinec and Ctibor Jech (Liberec) and Aleš Kmoníček (Hradec Králové) remain in the leadership of APK.
The owner of extraleague Vítkovic Pavlík resigned as president of APK LH after he criticized the referee after the second semi-final with Hradec Králové (2:3 in overtime) and accused them of being corrupt. “The right guy should face all things head on, especially the unpleasant ones. I crossed the red line with my statements after the second semi-final match,” said Pavlík, who was the head of APK for eleven years.
Despite some critical voices, the game system of the competition will not change. After 52 rounds of the regular season, the four best teams advance directly to the quarterfinals of the playoffs, the teams in 5th to 12th place await the preliminary round for the remaining four spots. “The clubs, based on the current viewing figures and the attendance of the matches at the end of the regular season and the preliminaries of the playoffs, have decided to maintain the current system. It is about the fact that in the eight cities from which the teams are in the preliminaries, there is talk of the playoffs and everyone has a chance to go on. The pre-round of the play-off is certainly better publicized than the play-out competition, where attendance was really low in the previous years, while the stadiums are usually full during the pre-round,” said Loukota.
The barrage is becoming an increasingly hot topic. Kladno, who played it twice in a row, mastered it with ease after a break of almost a month and a half. Last year they beat Jihlava 4:1 in matches, this year Zlín, which was relegated a year ago, even without a single hesitation.
“There was some discussion, however, the extra league teams see it one way, the first league teams see it differently. We each defend our interests. And even though 40 days from the end of the extra league regular season to the start of the playoff is a long time, it remained the same. We already chose this option last year and we will stick to it for the 2023/24 season as well,” Loukota said, adding that the game system should soon be set up for the next years as well.
“Because the representatives of all the teams did not participate, according to the program of the general meeting, we could only decide on the upcoming season. But it is likely that at the next general meeting, or perhaps during the summer, we will talk about other seasons and the schedule,” he outlined Loukota.
In an effort to avoid further problems with the ice that accompanied this year’s elimination battles, he also wants to organize a workshop soon for representatives of clubs and winter stadiums.
“We have some information about what has been going on and what is being planned. We would like all these people to share with each other what happened and how we could prevent it so that we do not face such troubles again. Criticism from fans in this regard she didn’t listen well, and I believe that it must have been uncomfortable for them in the stadiums, especially when they were there with children, for example,” said Loukota.
