Try something other than stoning and destruction, said the governor to the battle of Zlín and Vsetín

“The situation with some fans is not good at all. I want to appeal to us as a region to show that we can support in a sporting, decent way and above all without the insults, profanity and violence that have unfortunately appeared now. If someone goes to hockey to have fun there or hurt someone, so he chose the wrong place. This is a clear message from the Security Council that we will absolutely not tolerate such behavior,” the governor said.

According to police spokesman Petr Jaroš, all nine fans who were detained by the police on Saturday committed offences. “They were notified to the administrative body,” a ČTK spokesman said today. According to him, the perpetrator of the stone attack on the bus remains unknown. “We are still investigating the case due to the suspicion of committing a criminal offense of damaging another’s property. The damage was initially estimated at 50,000 crowns,” said Jaroš. According to him, the police continue to deal with threats to the Vsetín goalkeeper on the social network.

The management of the region also wants to put pressure on the management of the clubs so that unruly fans are not allowed into the stadium. According to Holiš, there are tools to influence this, especially the support and financing of sports. According to the governor, it is not excluded that if the clubs have unruly fans, they will have problems to receive the financial support from the region that they had in the past. Both clubs urged their fans to calm their emotions.

“I ask the fans to change their attitude. If they want to riot, to find another way than throwing stones and destroying the property of another club in our region,” said Holiš.

According to regional councilor Jiří Jaroš (Pirates), the regional management is in contact with the general managers of both clubs. “Let the fans enjoy the hockey holiday and let it be decided on the ice, not in the audience. We believe that it will be a celebration of hockey and that the situation will improve,” said Jaroš. The next two matches of the final will be played on Wednesday and Thursday in Zlín with the score tied at 1:1.
