The National Government launched the new $2000 bill

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic approved the issuance of a new $2000 note and that will be integrated into the current Peso Line. “Designed in collaboration with Casa de Moneda, it commemorates the development of science and medicine in Argentina and will feature the Malbrán Institute, and the Dr. Cecilia Grierson and Dr. Ramón Carrilloprecursors in the development of medicine in our country,” reported the monetary entity through an official statement.

The statement noted that this higher denomination bill “will improve the operation of ATMs and, at the same time, optimize the transfer of cash.” Meanwhile, the BCRA added that it is working to promote electronic means of payment based on the Transferencias 3.0 program, allowing payment through QR codes, facilitating transactions between customers and merchants.
