The city of Lugo is preparing to say goodbye to the former Enal club. Protagonist of parties and musical evenings, the place that has brought together an entire generation of people from Lugo will open its doors one last time before being demolished and transformed into the new auditorium in the coming months. The end of an era and the beginning of a new future for the building in via Emaldi 20 will be celebrated on Sunday 30 April, starting at 7 pm when the administration, in collaboration with the Filmeeting Association and the Che Sbatta collective, will give life to an evening of presentation of the new project together with the technicians of the Nuovo Studio Ravenna who take care of the works, completed by DJ sets and the projection of a video on the future auditorium.
“The preparatory works for the actual construction site will begin in May – explained the councilor for public assets Veronica Valmori – with the displacement of the utilities and with the transfer, when the schools and also of the sports year are closed, of the judo clubs which they have a gymnasium in the building”.
At present, in fact, the complex that will be used as the site of the new auditorium, located between via Emaldi and via Garibaldi, houses municipal offices, the judo gym and the former Enal club which has been closed for some time. These last two parts, therefore a gymnasium and former club, will be completely demolished. The new auditorium, financed for 2,250,000 euros by funds from the PNRR, will occupy all the space on the first floor, to offer a room with a capacity of 272 seats. The part of the ground floor, on the other hand, is awaiting destination. “It will be like a blank sheet to be written together with the citizens – added Valmori. “A space open to various uses that offers further development with respect to the initial project”. The two sports clubs, Judo Club and Team Romagna Judo, will be located when will be ready, in the building of the former DiPiù supermarket in via Macello Vecchio, destined to be transformed into a gym. In the meantime, they will be transferred to a suitable place but still to be identified. “We think that the auditorium which has long been requested by many Lughesi to the function of a meeting place for citizens and towns – underlined the mayor Davide Ranalli. “Sunday’s initiative, in addition to opening up new perspectives on its use as a place for film screenings, will also serve to bring young people closer to the project”. As for the timing of the implementation, hopes are concentrated on the months that anticipate the end of the legislature. “It would be nice if the works were completed within my mandate – concluded Ranalli. “Should this not happen, I will still do everything to be present at the inauguration”.
