Another name that drew attention was Matheus Martins, formerly from Fluminense and currently at Watford. The left winger was only in 18th place overall, but he entered the ideal team for being the most promising athlete in his position.
The report named Barcelona midfielder Gavi as the world’s most promising under-20 player. The Spaniard reached a score of 4.37 and has a good lead over second-placed Jude Bellingham, from Borussia Dortmund, who adds up to 3.66.
The study took into account players from 75 leagues from different continents and had some criteria to evaluate the athletes. Age, experience and minutes played were some of the factors examined to build the ranking.
